My Teaching Philosophy
Music plays some type of role in all of our lives. Whether that role is large or small, influential or seemingly inconsequential, it is nevertheless important because music represents a powerful pathway toward self-expression and communication.
Listening, Creating, Questioning, Performing, and Reflecting are all pillars of the musical learning process, and each concept invites us to actively participate and express ourselves in ways that demonstrate our musical understanding. Music can also help us communicate with one another and with the world around us, sometimes even without words.
As a life-long learner and lover of music, I continue to focus on educational methods and research that support both the philosophical and practical sides of experiencing the joy of music with students at different age levels and abilities. As a trained vocalist and Suzuki-certified violin teacher with a strong musical background, my education and experience demonstrate my dedication to providing students at TCS with exciting and engaging opportunities to learn through music.
